A historical classic, Scalamandre’s Resist Print of bird and tree of Life, brings such innocent happiness to your home. Sunny and almost child-like, the simple but robust lines depict birds, flower, foliage and fruits.

Heavy 100% linen is suited for both drapery & upholstery. In resist printing, the fabric is first printed in a design with a chemical that resists dye. The fabric is then dyed. The resist chemistry will leave the fabric white or a lighter version of the base color in the printed areas. One of the advantages of this method is that dyes with very high colorfastness can be used. To obtain a two-colour pattern on goods already dyed in one colour, a dye paste is applied in the desired design; the paste contains a substance resistant to a second dye, which is then applied to the cloth, developing colour only in the areas not covered by the paste. Batik and tie-dyeing are examples of resist printing.

This technique gives the print a “hand crafted” nuance.
